Artist but also Communication Specialist and Creative Director Jovana Ilic dedicated her unique artistic vision and her personality to the worlds of fashion, luxury, entertainment and art. Her intuitive wisdom, relentless innovative spirit, thirst for knowledge, artistic mind and attention to detail stamped many epic campaigns, photo shoots, editorials but also artworks of her own. She worked on various music and art projects, as well as for Givenchy holding the position of the worldwide Visual, Media and Digital Director; ETAM as the Global Image and PR Director, Lancôme, Helena Rubenstein (L’Oreal), Morgan, Procter & Gamble etc.
She is also a musician and multi-disciplinary artist that intersects Photography, Drawing , Video and Writing.
She exposed her art works internationally and published a music album.
Jovana Ilic initially started her carrier in 1995 by organizing « Fashion for Peace » humanitarian show for UNICEF with participation of Yohji Yamamoto, Thierry Mugler, Paco Rabanne and many other designers. Since her early childhood she was a real globetrotter, with international education (Switzerland, Yugoslavia, France and USA). She obtained an MA degree at IFM – L’Institut Francais de la Mode in Paris, France.
During 9 years in LVMH, Jovana Ilic was committed and successfully contributed to the re-vamping and development of the Givenchy brand in different stages of its life cycle, team size and budgets, by shouldering Riccardo Tisci on his mission, holding the position of the worldwide Visual, Media and Digital Director.
Renown for her outstanding capacity to manage ambiguity, blend intuition and rationality, Jovana Ilic created advantageous out-of-standard visions of the brand development in line with the business strategy and the designer world. She has contributed to the brand’s language and the visual identity with her own creative sensibility. Jovana set and maintained brand standards and ensured consistency in how the Givenchy story is told, reinforcing its modern luxury positioning both in visual imagery and voice across all touching points.
Jovana Ilic also worked for ETAM as the Global Image and PR Director, Lancôme, Morgan, and many other smaller brands, artists and musicians. She always had the capacity to understand clearly the brand, set up intelligent communication strategy and created powerful, strong concepts in line with the brand’s DNA. She has an extensive network and know who are the influential figures in today’s ever-changing fashion industry. Having an excellent idea and working with the right team is essential. Her connectedness in fashion sector impacted her work by helping her to navigate throughout the journey and to reach excellence in many projects.
Jovana is frequently invited to be a jury member or guest professor, she gives lectures and conducts round tables on prestigious universities worldwide including France, UK, Belgium and Middle East since 2014.
In the new series of digital drawings, Jovana revisits the masterpieces of classical sculpture, reshaping them and introducing within a new content that is questioning the human grandeur, our own personal natures; our presumed identities and our place in memory and time.
The digital drawing series started during the pandemic confinement, talks about time, longevity, decadence and rebirth, crafts and knowledge of ancient artists, legends, mythology and dreams…
She is exposing her drawings via Sobering Gallery in Paris and Spain in 2020.
Jovana Ilic collaborated with her husband Artist Mihael Milunovic on various art projects, such as her photographic works on the exhibition “Kissing the Flag” in Liege, 2018.
She also directed and filmed the art video “Prometheus” for Mihael Milunovic during the international contemporary art festival “a-part” in Baux-de-Provence, 2016. Other participants: Gérard Fromanger, Orlan, Ugo Schiav, Mounir Fatmi, Emilie Pitoiset, William Holden,etc.
She also collaborated with cultural institutions and her husband on setting up and prompting massive art projects in Vienna and Linz.
Vienna: For the 10 years Art Jubilee, “Wiener Städtische” covered the Ringturm skyscraper with forty thousand square meters reproduction of work of contemporary painter Mihael Milunovic during 6 months in Vienna. The national TV covered the opening ceremony and speeches of the Austrian prime minister and the artist. Few licensed special edition products where developed with Villeroy & Boch and a luxurious chocolate house.
Linz Klangwolke & Brucknerhaus Festivals are the biggest yearly cultural events in Linz. The outdoor scene (bankside of the river Danube) was one kilometer long and hosted two hundred thousand viewers. It was mixing dance, classical music, art performance and monumental sculptures. This project was developed in collaboration with Fura del Baus, Artist Mihael Milunovic and the city of Linz.
"Pastoral for the planet" at “La Seine Musicale” in Paris was premiered on 26 February 2020. In occasion of 250 Years of Beethoven.
Almost a year long preparation and production, hundreds of drawings by Mihael Milunovic and scenography designs have been subsequently animated and staged as a part of exceptional collaboration of the artist with La Fura dels Baus and Insula Orchestra. Mihael revisited the Beethoven romantic vision of man and nature, his revolt against the industrial revolution, his obsession with human condition, environment, creation and self-development in a new light of our contemporary standpoints towards the natural world. International dates are rescheduling due to Covid-19.
Her taste for unusual and unseen is clearly visible in her photographic work. Her portraits of people are unveiling a deeper and more essential human nature, the fine, the fragile, and the true self. Her eye casts humility and empathy, but in the same time emphasises the true force and almost animal strength. Her imagination is borderless, transgressing uncharted and forbidden zones. Her Art is made of shards of reality that are finely placed again together in a stunning aesthetic feat.
Jovana collaborated with her husband Artist Mihael Milunovic for his art performance “Kissing the Flag” in Liege, 2018. During this occasion she exposed photographies of him in the "skin" of various dictators and their relationship with the symbolic of flags.
She also supported and shot portraits and other images of her friends as young designers, artists, musicians for press interviews, album covers or books.
Her emotional output in her music is scoring, and annihilates resistance. She breaks the rules, thus creating new ones. Her realm of impossible combinations, sharpened and contrasted, is taking out of context our world and creates a new reality, filled with tolerance, acceptance and devoid of prejudgments.
Her music does not belong to any genre she is melting different sounds in one unique style although it can be defined as a mixture of alternative electro punk rock with elements of rap. Jovana plays with the colour of her voice in order to express sincere and strong emotions that make the glowing core of her music. The powerful rhymes and incisive truth of lyrics will resonate in our heads longtime after we hear it for the first time.
Her first single from the Album Ego Mania will be published on 27 July 2020 and the full Album will be out in November 2020 via UK label The state51 Conspiracy and Mascom. The album will be available on all digital platforms as Apple Music, Spotify, Deezer ...
The Lyrics she wrote are essential, engaging, and sometimes with double meanings. The Artworks are instinctive, in line with the lyrics and the story she is telling in her songs. All videos and covers are self made including sometimes drawings by her husband Artist Mihael Milunovic.
